Preparation Time 10 minutes
Ingredients:
4 slices of whole-grain or low-carb breads
1 cups unsweetened almond milk or low-fat milks
2-3 tablespoon sugar substitute (such as stevia or erythritol), or to taste
Half teaspoon grounded cardamon
1 tablespoons unsalted butter or ghee (optional, for toasting bread)
Sliced almonds and pistachios for garnishings
Optional: Saffron strands for add flavour and colours
Instructions:
In a small saucepan, heated the almond or low-fat milk over a medium heat until it simmered.
Stirring in the sugar substitute and grounded cardamom until dissolved.
Allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes to let the flavors infuse.
If using saffron, add a few strands to the milk for flavour and colours.
In a separate skillet or frying pan, toasted the slices of whole-grain or low-carb breads over a medium heat until golden brown.
You could toast them in unsalted butter or ghee to add flavours, but this step is optional.
Once the bread slices are toasted, cut each slice into quarters or smallers pieces, depending on your preferences.
Arrange the toasted bread pieces in a serving dish and pour the prepared sweetened milk mixture over them, ensuring that all the bread pieces are soaked.
Garnish sliced almonds and pistachios with Shahi Tukda.
Serves warm or chilling, as desired.
Serving Size: Serve 4
Estimated Carbohydrate Content (per serving): Approximately 15-20 grams, depends on the type of bread and amount of sugar substitute used.
